Typhoon Saola came to visit

A little baby typhoon came to see us!  We got a direct hit, with the eye of the storm passing right over us at lunchtime.  It was kind of crazy intense.  Not they eye of the the storm, but the rest of it!  We woke up to blasting wind and rains.  It blew towards the front of the house and was so forceful, it was shoving water through the bottom of the front door.  We had to keep towels there and change them every 2 hours or so.  It was crazy to watch it batter the banana tree outside the living room.
Of course, the girls had to go for a run outside to check it out.

There was a lot of silly running around and checking out the flow of water. You can see that we live at the top of a hill, so we won't flood.

My poor little banana tree.  It got blown this direction all morning.  And after they eye of the storm passed, the wind was blowing the opposite direction.  The poor tree lost about 3 of it's giant stalks.  It was sad.  And all the leaves are in tatters.

The girls ran amok for a lot longer than I expected!  They were saturated, but smiling when they came back in.

Someone else was also saturated, but less thrilled about it.

Happier now!

And the next morning all was clear and it was over! Our damage was limited to the banana tree.  Marian and Callie's closet had a leak that dripped water from the ceiling, but it was no big deal.  The wind was strong enough that despite being in the slightly protected porch area, our 4'x6' shed was pushed about a foot.  We didn't lose power or water, unlike some others.  So it was a good storm for us!
