Rylee's China Trip Part 6: Jedi Training Camp

One of the coolest things about Hong Kong Disney, I think, is their Jedi Training.  They do it a couple times a day and you go sign up for it in advance.  It does fill up.  I got Delaney and Rylee enrolled, but Rylee wimped out at the last minute.

At the appointed time, they take the kids in and give them a cloak and a light saber.  I wish they could have kept these, but alas, they had to be returned at the end.

They get the kids cloaked and ready.

Then they spread them out across the stage and teach them some basic moves.  They have 3 moves they teach and have them practice.  Some kids do better than others!  The "Trainers" do a bit of acting as well.

 Then Darth Vader comes out ...and his evil sidekick!

They need the Jedi cadets to help fight them off!

They get the kids into two lines and one by one they get to battle Darth Vader or his sidekick.  If the kids do their three moves, it makes a pretty good mock battle.

This was the first kid in line.  He was awesome.  He was crying and traumatized, but when the coaching Jedi said "Up to the right!" he put his lightsaber up to the right.  He cried the whole way through, but by golly, he did it!  I loved him. But look at his face!

Delaney was in the back, but eventually made it to the front.  She was not as entertaining as the kids who really got into it, but she wasn't crying either!

 She managed to get most of the moves down.

She was cute.

And I think had fun.  She said he was really scary though.

And they finally fought them off.

 It took the combined effort of the trainers, the cadets and the audience, all using the Force, to push Darth Vader out of the arena.  

 But then this guy showed up, trying to seed fear and doubt into one of the trainers, who nearly succumbs.  But then she finds her strength and fights him off.

And all the kids are safe.  And the universe is saved.

Rylee's China Trip Part 5: Hong Kong Disney Day 1

We arrived! We got there when it opened and it wasn't too crowded.

The Toy Story section had some pretty awesome things to see, but they were running out of enthusiasm for pictures by then.  So this is all you get for that day!

Rylee's China Trip Part 4: Traveling to Hong Kong

 On Wednesday we flew to Hong Kong.  It was a little over 2 hours, and the flight was only 20 minutes late leaving.  I really really hate that every flight we did in China involved taking a 10 minute bus ride to get from the terminal to the plane, and a 10 minute bus ride on arrival to get from the plane to the terminal.  But you can see we survived.

The Hong Kong hotel room.  Pretty much the same.

We stayed at the DisneyHollywood Hotel this time.  (The Disney Explorers Lodge and  Disney Hotel were the other options.) This room was very dim, but the Hollywood decor was neat.  They also had the most divine smelling Christmas tree decorated in the lobby.

They offered a sundries tin as well.   

 We dined at one of the restaurants for a late diner.  My burger was delicious.

Rylee hated everything on the menu and decided to try the noodles.  But they were not soba or ramen noodles.  They were (gasp!) RICE!  So of course they were disgusting and she refused to eat it.

Delaney was adamant that she wanted to try a chicken and tomato soup dish.  I applaud her desire to try new things, but not when it costs me a small fortune and she discovers it is not delicious.

Rylee's China Trip: Shanghai Hotel room

 In case you were wondering what the Disney Hotel rooms look like in Shanghai, I took a few photos for you!

The room had 2 double beds.  They were firm beds, but comfortable enough after a full day of tromping around the park.  China doesn't believe in top sheets, so there is just a duvet on top.  Thus you drop the AC in the room to 20C so you can sleep comfortably under the fluffy blanket. They did leave six 19oz water bottles in the room each day for us, which was nice because the tap water is not potable. 

This was the Toy Story Hotel and it was very cute with the theme and decor.

The bathroom was adequate.  They left a really cute tin with toothbrushes, toothpaste, comb, and shower cap.  The left a new one each day so you could take them all home with you.

Rylee's China Trip Part 3: Shanghai

Still having a great time at Disney.

I love these cuties!

This was a nest thing.  Sorry it is so dark!  The kids stood in the special spot and they started the video thing.  You moved your arms and the hands on the screen did whatever you did. Oh, and you were Ironman.

Rylee also wanted to be Ironman and it was a hoot watching her.

I needed a bathroom break and left the girls at the Frozen Singalong for a few minutes.  Rylee snapped some selfies while I was gone.

We found a huge Lego store when we left the Park.  We had to spend some time there playing with all the cool stuff. FYI, China may be cheap, but you aren't going to find the cheap stuff anywhere near DisneyLand!
