Beach Day

We drove out to Carlsbad Beach to meet up with cousins during Spring Break. It was a bit too cold for swimming, and the water was pretty rough anyway.  The girls had a marvelous time anyway.  They built a magnificent sand castle and played with the tide.  It was a good day.

And I am too lazy to try to put the pictures in order, so here they are:

Someone had a birthday

As soon as I got home from my trip, we celebrated a birthday.
She requested an ice cream cake. It was delicious!

She enjoyed her loot.

And was quite cute.  But she did not want a big deal, and I didn't take many photos.  But she did have a good birthday and I love her!!

Girls Trip!!!

Tuesday after Pi Day, I ran away.  My friend Steph (from Iwakuni) lives in SLC, and my friend April (also from Iwakuni) now lives in Kansas.  The three of us decided we need to get together.  So we did. April and I flew into SLC on Tuesday and stayed with Steph till Saturday and we had a marvelous time eating garbage and binge-watching Steph's favorite show and going out to be tourists.   And I took almost no photos. And I still had a marvelous time!
So.... a funny story..... Dad texted me and I took this picture and sent it to him, saying that I was on my way to the airport.  I was a little surprised to get no response.  I was even more surprised a week later when I went to text the missionaries and saw that I had actually texted it to them.  Oops. I'm sure they were very confused as to why I would send them a selfie and tell them I was going to the airport!

This was the selfie I texted Dan when he asked how it was going.

This is me and my friends at the Temple in our matching masks I made us.

And here are our whole faces!

And here is my selfie of me at the temple, which is closed for renovations.

An Easter tree we posed at.

And we went to lunch with one of the (former!) sweet sister missionaries from Iwakuni.

And, of course, we found horribly inappropriate shirts.  We refrained from purchasing them.

Pi Day 2021!!

We had a surprisingly successful Pi Day this year.  I had no idea what to expect.  I mean, we moved into a new place during a pandemic and didn't get to meet all our neighbors, and we still are only having church over Zoom, so the number of people I have met face to face and actually know is pretty small.  Plus, I had no idea who would come.  I sent out an invite to the Ward FB page, and to the neighborhood FB group, and personally invited all the people I did actually know.  But I still didn't know if they would come or not.

People came.  Probably half from the neighborhood and half from church.  People I knew and people I vaguely maybe met once or saw on a Zoom class.  And 4 different families from Okinawa who moved into the area also came.  So I did feel special.  Plus, they did eat most of the pie!

This was the pie line up.

Ready to serve!

Uh.... being served.

Many came, many ate, and many commented for weeks later how fun it was!

And here is the chicken pot pie recipe!

March Life

This cutie came with me to Callie's Cross Country Meet.  There was more waiting around than she expected.

Callie did great.  This was the last meet I got to watch.  I was out of town for her very last one.  She was a Rock Star though!

We spent way too much time trying to file the claim for this stupid thing.  I had to pay $160 for a technician to come out and document all the damage and say, yep, it is beyond repair. a week later they offered us $325. Well, not so much an offer, as a "take it because that's all you can do."  So, $325 for our $1400 machine.  Ug.

But this sweet face makes everything better!
