Moving Day!

It's moving day!!  The moving company came and did the walk thru and told us they could do it in one day, not two. I was rather dubious, but they were certain, so they came on Friday, June 5.  They showed up at 7:45 with 4 men.  Maybe 5.  They all wore masks, so I couldn't ell anyone apart and they worked so fast it was hard to go anywhere without getting in the way!
Here they are with the empty truck, getting things going.

I was impressed that he boxed the couch first and then the other big stuff, before moving on to the DVD shelf.

He worked FAST though.

Starting to get stuff on the truck.  They only took 30 minutes for lunch and worked non-stop.

It was impressive!  My room is all packed up.

There's the treadmill!

Everything was out of the house by now and they loaded up the truck. Actually I think they loaded up 3 trucks.  We had 9 crates and a couch box.  They finished at 3pm and drove away at 3:15.  I was AMAZED!

Last Stairway to Heaven!

Our last time to climb the 267 steps up the mountain!  This is the view of it as you walk over to it.  You have to park a 5 minute walk away and you get this view.

The glorious view from the top.

Me, as I head down after three trips up and hope my legs don't completely turn to jello before I get to the bottom.

Goodbye Stairway!  I will miss you!

Last week of May

We checked out our inflatable mattresses.  This one had a hole in it. What better use than letting the girls play with it?!

Rylee and Delaney did have a good time with it in the rain.

I took this photo so I would remember what my serger was set at, in case it matters after the movers get done with it.

This is the bird that keeps waking Marian up in the morning with his bright sunny song. Marian is not appreciative of his morning energy.  And the sun does come up at 5am!

The sun goes down about 7:30 right now and this is the glorious sunset we got to see.

This kid has SO MUCH hair!

 This is our moving company.

This is me, after a gross, sweaty run in 80 degrees and 85% humidity.  My camalbak is my best friend.  I can chug 48 oz of water in 6 miles.

A little Update on our Move

So... we had orders to Yuma, AZ.  And we got a waiver (also known as an ETP unmilitary lingo, meaning Exception To Policy), so we were cleared to move before July 1.  We had movers scheduled.  Movers were coming May 28-29.  However, on Thursday, May 21st, Dan got a call from DC and was informed that his Yuma job was now being turned into a civilian job and we were no longer going to be moving there.  Instead, we were now being given orders to Miramar, CA.

That was a bit of a shock.

The orders did not hit the system till Tuesday evening and Dan went in with them on Wednesday.  That was when they told us that they had to cancel the movers entirely and set up new movers.  Ug.  So the movers did not show up on Thursday.  We were able to reschedule them for June 4-5 though, so that was good.  And we were given reservations for the military rotator flight on June 10.  So things were still happening, despite the change in destination.

Lots of exciting things here!!

A little Rylee

I took Rylee in to return school stuff and clear out her desk.  We had to get a picture on this wall.

And we needed one on this wall too.

And one without the face mask!

And as we were sorting through stuff for packing, Rylee found this Samurai Sword and needs to pose with it.

Which led to the pulling out of this sword for a photo as well. Swords are cool!
