Thailand: The rest of Thursday

 We went to see a giant reclining Buddha.  I mostly don't know where we went, I just followed the ladies, and they took me where I needed to be.

The giant Buddha was enclosed in a wooden house.  He barely fit.

And it made it very difficult to take photos! 

 We took the water taxi and walked a lot.  I just followed along.  And I saw a kitty!  The cats were very lean and long there.

We saw fun vendor fare along the way.

And we saw this.  It is Wat Arun.

And it was glorious and amazing and I'm a little bitter that the photos look so much less glorious than it was in real life.

The spires were much cooler too.

We then went out to dinner and I ate delicious green curry with chicken.  And as we were waiting for the rest of the group that ate elsewhere, I saw the cutest kitties!

And I peered them and took a photo. I'm totally distracted here because everyone else is screaming at me not to touch the animals or I'll die of some awful disease.

We went back to the water taxi and got this lovely photo of Wat Arun at night before we headed back to the hotel.

My fitbit says I had a great day!

I went to Thailand!

I always take selfies with the kids before I go on a trip, so just in case something happens, I have one last picture with them.  Morbid? Perhaps. This time I almost didn't take a photo.  I had to leave at 6pm (for a 9:30pm flight) Wednesday night, and the kids demanded a photo as I walked out the door.  This little gem is the result.  I did get on my late flight and with the two hour time change, landed in Bangkok at 1am-ish.  I was traveling with 8 other women from church and it was pretty awesome. 

 Thursday morning we split into two groups of 5 and my group took tuktuks to get to the Grand Palace.  Except our tuktuk drivers were less than honest.  

We did have a spectacularly fun ride, but they took us to their friend's boat tour place, not where we had asked to go.  So we had to walk away and then walk another few blocks to get to the pier for a water taxi.  It was annoying being scammed (or only half scammed, since we refused to go along?), but it was a fun ride and we didn't entirely regret it. 

 We took the water taxi up the river and it also was a lot of fun!

 We did make it to the Grand Palace.  And it was quite grand!

 We roamed around and admired everything.  But it was so incredibly crowded and so incredibly hot. I think it was 95 degrees and I was sweating non-stop.  Being that hot and sweaty and fighting crowds are two of my least favorite things.  So that took a little away from the experience for me.

But the buildings were amazing. 

And the pictures really do not do them justice.  They were so beautiful! 

And so full of fun stuff like this. 

And so many bright colors and shiny things.   

It really was so much more amazing in real life. 

And you can see that I may be  roasting in the sun, but I am having a good time!

I may be shiny from sweat, but I'm loving it!

This was the official palace place.  We were disappointed that you couldn't actually go inside.  Merely admire it from outside.

Urasoe Art Museum

 On Tuesday, Calla picked me up and off we went!

Dan texted to ask if I wanted to go to lunch, so I sent him this picture of me in the car, heading out on an adventure!

This is what we went to see. The Miniature Life display at the Art Museum.

It was fantastic!  I mean, just LOOK at this!

They had displays of the clever art, and photos of it. You have to zoom in on this one. It is a restaurant set up in this tape dispenser! 

And how adorable is this?! Sushi beds!

The miniature people were tiny.  Check out this guy on the light switch. 

Skiing down toilet paper- so funny!

I loved that for some, there was the display and the photo.  So you could see the design that he took pictures of.  And you can get a different angle on it. So, here you have farmers farming a circuit board.

 And the photo makes it really look like they are farming rice.  So cool! It was such an amazing exhibit and I loved it.

Dogs

Levi is jealous of Sara getting love so he needs more snuggles.

Rylee thought Sarah was too cute all curled up on the couch.

Levi loves the dog park.  But only if the dogs are not bigger then him!

Marian likes the dog park too.

Sarah is poking me with her front feet so I will pet her more. She snuggled up for petting.  When I stopped petting her, she pawed at me.  When I did not immediately start to pet her again, she used the other paw.  This is her pathetic "pet me" face, and her "pet me" paws.

The kids think she is so cute and love tasing pictures.  She is pretty cute.

Sarah is still rather timid.  Sometimes she hides under the footstool and it makes me laugh.  

My new favorite game!

 This past summer, the game "Telestrations"was brought to the Family Reunion, and much hilarity ensued.  So we got it for Christmas.  And yes, it is still that much fun! I really should have taken pictures of more of their things, but I did not.  I was laughing too hard.

The phrase was "Tossed Salad".  And this is what Marian drew.

In case you are wondering, it devolved into some very entertaining things and ended with "Fireman" 

My other favorite drawing was this.  Marian was drawing a "Pig King". And I was vastly amused!
