Making Friends

One of the families in our new ward invited us over to hang out and eat dinner.  It was kind of fun getting an invite from someone we had never met, but also a little stressful.  They told us they had a pool, and to bring swimsuits. So we did.  The girls had a blast in the pool and we had a lovely time getting to know them.  They are very cool and I wish stupid Covid hadn't ruined so much socializing.  We very much enjoyed getting to know them and it was an evening well spent.

Yeah yeah, another Tuesday Trail Day!

We actually found a really fun trail! It was nicely paved for a bit, and you could take a couple off-shoot trails as well. And it had 2 different little waterways to cross and lots of fun little things to explore and enjoy. It took us to this fun "pond" that was really just scummy water covered with cattails, but there was a cement area to run wild in. I'm pretty sure that area was for heavy rain flooding to run off on. But we had a marvelous time, and would do this one again.

Visiting Cousins

Now that we are close enough to visit family, we decided we should.  So we did. Dan's brother is about 2 hours away, so we drove up to visit on Labor Day. Just a quick day trip.  Levi got to come with us.

We had a really nice day with them.  They grilled delicious burgers for lunch and it was great to hang out and visit.  And somehow I really suck, because these are the only photos I took that day!!

An unexpected visitor

I woke up Sunday morning after sleeping in and came out to sedan snuggling a strange dog in his lap. Whaaaat?!!  Apparently on his early morning walk with Levi, he had discovered a cute little dog roaming unattended and looking for trouble. The dog had only a shock collar on, with no tags.  So he brought him home. We posted on the local social media pages and waited. I was starting to get concerned that this dog would not be claimed and we would be stuck with it for a while. Levi was worried as well, since the dog was in his territory and was feeling pretty comfortable there.

Finally his owner was located and came to fetch him.  His name was Oscar!  And we bid him farewell. Of course, many photos were taken to document his visit.

Trail 4

We couldn't do the usual Trail Tuesday, so we pushed it to Saturday and Dan joined us.  We went to one of the big trailheads for the big mountain.  It was sunny and hot, but fun. It was too hot to go very far, but we got a good workout in with the uphill.

Levi does love going on hikes.  He loves sniffing all the smells and looking for things to chase.  But he does get pretty hot in the sunshine.

We made it to a minor peak and decided that was far enough.  Delaney refused to join her sisters for a victory photo.

This does it no justice, but it was a nice view.

My obligatory "I was there" selfie.
