Dan's Birthday

This handsome mad gained another year this week.

Boy, you put your phone down for one stinking second and find this on it!

We had Jello Poke cake, which was delicious, as always. I really should make it more often!

Dan is delighted with is new aux cord to replace the too short one in his car. (Or maybe we are the delighted ones?!)

Enjoying his loot with a photobomber.

So this happened

Silly van.  The starter went out.  On top of the freshly replaced alternator and battery, it decided it was feeling neglected.  I had to get it towed to the car care center, where it has been sitting for 4 days now.

Rylee

The day after her birthday Rylee got to do this. She was awesome and got two teeth filled.

Her dentist was amazing and did a great job with her.

And after the dentist, I went to school and had lunch with her.  And it was a lot of fun!

Happenings

I have been experimenting with making Christmas Stockings with Kimono fabric.  I love the quilted scrapping.  But I have not been satisfied with the techniques I have been trying.

Cute Japanese back of the stocking with fabric I bought here at the Japanese fabric store.

A new, scrappier one.

Oh, just a road I was driving on as I was trying to find the auto shop off base that was ridiculously hard to find.  I may have gotten a bit frustrated. But I found it.

I took some time to do a blanket for a friend. It is a really cute green that apparently;y isn't showing up as well as it does in real life.

My friend April sent this box to Josh.  It was cute because it was full of random items, but fun ones, like MREs and stuff.

We had a Relief Society activity where I got to make a double sided holiday decor sign.  It came out really cute, but was more work than I'd anticipated.  I thought they were vinyl stickers, but no.  It was painting with stencils.

It took a while, but I am quite pleased with the results!

And one evening I was tired and cranky, but Callie asked me to go on a walk with her and Levi.

So I went out, and it was a lovely evening with a gorgeous sunset and I was glad I did.

Dan signed up to take a Scuba class with Marian.  I found her a secondhand wetsuit and it took her a while to squeeze into it.  those things are tight!  She was so pleased once she got it on she demanded a photo.

And then I tried making straight up stockings without quilting them.  And I like the way they came out.  It is just kimono on the outside and felt inside.

With super cute Japanese fabric on the back.

Birthday Time!

Rylee wanted to go to Chili's for her birthday dinner.  So we went Saturday night and she was delighted.  She was thrilled when they sang to her and gave her a dish of ice cream.

She asked for Pumpkin scone for breakfast, but she wanted me to frost it.  So I made it all special for her and she loved it.

Silly Sunday Birthday selfie.

It is the lemon pound cake with glaze drizzled on top.  It was delicious and she was pleased with her choice.

Loot from the grandparents.

Callie may have been a little too thrilled with some of the presents.

One of my vile children gave her silly slime.

And Josh had a little too much fun with it.

She enjoyed her presents and birthday and everything.

And she put her new Ferret shirt on as soon as she opened it.  Ferrets are her new favorite animal.

My dog is weird

Levi is weird.  He suddenly refused to drink from his water dish.  Look at him. He won't even come near it.

And if I push it towards him, he tries to get away.  He won't let it come near him.

Look at that face. He doesn't trust me now.  Such an odd dog.  I washed the water dish and refilled it and that wasn't good enough. I had to get out a different one to make sure he was drinking.  Such a silly dog!

Just another day in Paradise!

There was a youth activity for the teens at the beach.  Since it was a lengthy affair and a 30 minute driveway, I took all the girls out there.  I sent Marian and Callie off to the activity and then hung out with Rylee and Delaney at the beach.  It was a glorious day!  Except for the dreadful sunburn I managed to get on my shoulders, despite sunscreening TWICE!

Torii Beach. It was so pretty!

Rocky beach but the girls don't care.

They were happy to play in the little waves.

And it was darn funny to watch Rylee do this!

She just sat there and let the waves try to shove her around.

It may have resulted in a TON of rocks up her suit that had to be rinse out.

Delaney buried herself in the sand by the table, where there was actual sand.

And we rented these boogie boards and went out for a bit on them.

They were fun, but the wind and current were pretty strong, so a lot of the time and energy was spent tryin not to drift too far down the beach.

But it was a lot of fun for them.

And Rylee especially enjoyed getting to go out further than she would otherwise.

You can't see the big girls, but they are in the water playing after their activity.

Sigh.  It was a pretty day at the beach.  And we did have fun.

I think that is Marian there in the front, playing in the foam.
